Here's the description of one that I happen to know pretty well:
They take leftovers. You know the food that at most peoples house you save just cause the thought of being that wasteful makes you sick NOT because you want to eat the SAME exact thing AGAIN.
They're tired. Not just tired but come home get in the recliner and ask "Do I have to shower or can I just sleep right here for the night?" Or "Baby supper really does look great but can I just get a shower and go to bed?"
They sometimes don't eat a thing all day. They're so busy providing for their family they are lucky to get nabs for lunch much less the meal you packed for them. They are sometimes so hungry they walk through the door forget to kiss you or the kids and fix their plate.
They never complain. They'll work in the back breaking heat or the freezing cold an never complain. Actually they'll work overtime. They work with holes in their boots because they hate to spend the money to get another pair. You see in his eyes that money's already spent on groceries or gas. They wear socks with holes in them just because they know they'll wear out another pair. They never complain of the sunburn their face and neck wear from a hot summer day. They never complain when they're boots are soggy from a day of down pouring rain.
They're main concern is the family. They work a 16hour shift and apologies because you had to put the baby down alone. They hate to take a weekebd with the boys during hunting season because they feel you deserve time off from all the days you've done it alone from the overtime. He calls on one of his few breaks to check on the baby and make sure she's eaten, napped, and is happy. He slept on a couch for 4 weeks while you were on bed rest. He drove 5 hours every weekend without fail to come to the hospital to see his sick baby.
They work LONG hours. Hours you or I couldn't imagine. Sometimes WEEKS of it. They clock in early cause the boss needs a job done ASAP and your the man he wants. You pull overtime so that the other guys don't have to. You ask the boss for extra hours on Friday so that you can pay that unexpected bill that showed up in the mail. Sometimes you don't see your kids for days.. You leave when they're asleep and come home when they're asleep.
They provide at all cost. They go to work with strep throat because the savings account looks low. They work with knee aches, back aches, and everything aches to make sure the bills are paid.
They work on the few days they're off. When you work crazy hours things at home go down. The lawn needs cut, storm blew limbs down, the lawn movers broke, the house needs washing down. The list goes on and on. So what does he do? He puts on his boots and puts in another 10hour day.
He still makes time for his girls. Somehow he still has time to make The kids giggle and mama smile. He still makes time to make his girls feel special. He helps his wife put up the laundry that he helped fold because she got backed up. He chases the dog with the kids just to hear them giggle. He lays the baby down early so that you can take a bath without interuption.
You see I know this man very well. I was lucky enough to marry this man. I write this because on some days I'm so busy weighing out "ALL that I do." Those moments where I think how darehim.. I do this... I do that.. When at the end of the day it takes us both to keep our wonderful home and marriage working at it's best! So today grab your hubby.. And if I can be blunt.. Lay a big smooch 😘 on him and say thank you! You'll be surprised how much he needed it!
Elizabeth and I love our working man and are so thankful for him!
