Day 5 fact 5

When we discovered the possibility Elizabeth could have DS we wanted to know how. How does it happen? Easy explanation! Unlike many mothers we carry the guilt and feel it is our fault because we "grew" our sweet babies!

Fact 5:
Down Syndrome occurs when a child is born with 47 chromosomes. A typical person only has 46. They have an Extra 21st. They have 3 (note Tri-Somy) instead of your typical 2 you get from each parent. The extra can come from the mother or father. At conception,in most cases, it is a freak occurrence. There are 3 types of DS. We will explain those on another fact day! There is no way to prevent this from happening and nothing you can "treat". If you ask me.. It's never a freak occurrence God knew that baby needed "a little something extra!" So instead of blaming your self realize your child is unique personality and DNA!

1 Peter 2:9 ESV

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
