I got Elizabeth to sleep as usual about 8 o'clock. At around 9:30 she woke up screaming! She was passing large amount of gas and her feet and hands were blue. Once I saw her hands and feet I totally freaked. With a mental handicap of using our sat monitor at home we threw ourself together and out the door for a "middle of the night" ER trip!
On the way to the hospital her color immediately returned. She vomited several times as well as diarrhea. She began to calm down once she emptied her stomach. We made it to the "Evaluation center". Thankfully we were called back on a timely manner. Once called back Elizabeth preceded to "empty her stomach" all over my clothes while vomiting in a bucket. She was evaluated and we were considered a "cat 2". The nurse reassured us that our wait wouldn't be long (I later found out she just couldn't wait to get rid of the smell.. Bahah!). We spent several grueling hours in the Er. 5 sticks and 1 horrific x-ray experience later we were admitted. At that point she had a 104.2 fever, vomited 4xs, had "emptied her stomach" on the "Evaluation Center" floor, and had a round of antibiotics.
Once we made it to the floor at 2 AM sleep was out of the question. She was poked, mashed, and probed by every doctor on the floor. Plus she refused to sleep anywhere but it mom's arms(I'm telling you I hated that!).
I can thankfully say that her fever is down to 101.1 and no infections have been found! The dr's are thinking viral! I am praying it will be a short stay! I know she likes being home as much as I do.
I did learn one very important thing.... I'm horrible in a moment of crisis!! My husband will attest! I pray that I can be calmer and trust in The Lord! After waking up the whole neighborhood and resisting the urge to call everyone I knew I was faced with the reality that me.. I, Victoria Brockway,... Didn't know how to be calm in the middle of a crisis. Especially involving Elizabeth.
