Psalms 98:1 O Sing to the Lord a new song, for the Lord has done marvelous things!
I would love to take credit for this blog but I cannot take it all. Our pastor did an amazing job on the book of Psalms 98 this morning.
Elizabeth was her usual self,Easily distracted and as usual a jabber box. She became restless in my lap and moved on to the next willing participant, which happen to be Shelly (her nana). I was in no way prepared for the overwhelming feeling that was about to hit. I fought tears for the next five minutes. As much as I love my mother-in-law it had nothing to do with their "bond" or interaction it was the pure presence of God drawing my attention to his timing. It was a moment in time I would typically think nothing about.
Elizabeth's sweet plump hands made contact with each cheek on Shelly's face just in time for the reading of the Word. Shelly continuously repeated Psalms 98:1 aloud to Elizabeth "O sing to the Lord a new song, for the Lord has done marvelous things." Elizabeth's sweet rosy cheeks, button nose, and sheer adoration tilted me off my axis. The concentration on the words her Nana was speaking to her was palpable. Her sweet uncoordinated claps only pushed Shelly's urge to continue to repeat the scripture.
I was reminded that Elizabeth's life is a NEW song. Everyday it is a new song. I was reminded how much I use to enjoy my OLD songs. They were familiar and comfortable. I knew each and every note to perfection. I knew when to hold my breathe for the coming high note and when to hold out the low notes.
As the preacher continued his sermon he reminded us that each life has a song. If you ask my Elizabeth's is easily "How Great Though Art" every day of the week but it has a very new but beautifully weaved melody. It plays to a different beat. On some days it plays a little slower than others.
I am as guilty as the next to wanting my OLD songs but at the end of the day I want my life to sing a NEW song. I want my life to sing new praises to the Lord. I want my life to be a new song for him. So today make your life a NEW song!
