Day 2 fact 2

I was 21 going on 22 when Jay and I found out we were expecting! We were so thrilled! I remember the only fear I had was miscarrying. I never in a million years considered Down Syndrome. I was too young right? Well little did I know that's exactly what God had in store. It took us from 18w to 28w to figure it out but we did!

Fact 2:
Although the risk increases substantially after the age of 35 children with Down Syndrome are more commonly born to young mothers. It is due to the decrease in woman in their 30's having children and increase of woman in their 20's.

I am still surprised when I read and see a child with DS born to a 19 year old. Every time Elizabeth is admitted to the hospital or a new doctor their first question is Jay and my age. We just consider ourselves part of the select few who will really be able to enjoy their baby being a baby! I am also lucky enough that I can encourage other young mothers who are overwhelmed with the diagnosis, therapies, hospital stays, and doctors!
