I am constantly reminded that
everything is a blessing. Whether it is as little as a 3rd copy of an extra
Chromosome ;) or the fact that the rain held off till you could make it inside.
I say all
that to say that sometimes the things people consider being "awful"
or "no quality of life" can be the most MAGICAL of them all!
I
typically or should I say WAS am a very
reserved, unemotional, and logical thinker. I will be the first one to tell you
there are three things in my life that changes that! The first day was May 14, 2011.The Second
being November 1,
2012. And what I would never tell me husband ;) the third, and
biggest of them all, was December
1, 2012. As many of you can guess May 14th was my wedding day. November
the 1st was the day our beautiful daughter Elizabeth Elese was born. And the third day I would
probably consider the darkest, and loneliest of any day in my life.
December 1st my daughter was sent to Birmingham, AL to hospital
to receive dialysis that would be her only hope. Medically speaking
that is. We all know the "real" hope is stored in God and him
alone.
I am
getting ahead of myself though! My daughter Elizabeth Elese Brockway made her grand
appearance on November 1st, 2012 at 8:35 A.M. She weighed a WHOPPING 3 LBS and 1 OZ. She was 15 1/2 Inches long. I was
delivered via C section at 34 weeks of pregnancy after a
long and stressful 4 weeks of bed-rest.
Before
anyone starts to awe of feel sorry for me know this, I loved every day I was
pregnant. I had a wonderful man that stayed every waking moment he could
in that small hospital room.
I was
prenatally diagnosed around 28 weeks with Elizabeth having her MAGICAL extra chromosome. We knew there
was trouble around 18 weeks. The
doctors had seen that her intestines were not working properly but to what
extent we would not know until she got here.
I am
telling my story because I now feel like it is my job. If no one ever
reads it and it inspires or sets aside some fears then I can at
least know I tried. I want mothers to know that my daughter is PERFECT. She is OUR blessing. She has never been shy
of perfect in MINE nor her DADDY'S eyes. I wish the doctors
would tell the prenatally diagnosed mothers "CONGRATULATIONS!
I know you wanted "normal" but now... now you're getting
MAGICAL!"
If you
take nothing from my blog today know this one thing. There are days the dishes
are never done or supper isn't cooked because I am busy with medical supplies
coming out of my ears but IT IS
MAGICAL. No one
will truly appreciate your child's triumph and milestone like a
mother who has spent her days in therapy instead of spa's and salons.
My magical journey is just starting but I know with Elizabeth it will
be the MOST
MAGICAL EVER!
